Communicating Through a Pandemic

We are delighted to be sponsoring the only Chartered Institute of Public Relations event in Guernsey this year.

On 18th November, the Channel Islands CIPR group will welcome the States of Guernsey’s central communications team to talk about the highs and lows of communicating through Covid-19, discussing best practice for crisis communications and sharing their learnings from the last six months.

2020 has been a challenging year and, like many sectors, our industry has felt the impact of the pandemic, with some clients cutting back on activity and others needing more PR services than ever before.

Since the news broke about Covid-19, the States of Guernsey has been rightly praised for how it has communicated vital, accurate information in a timely way, across all platforms and mediums.

Back in April, we wrote a blog about How to Communicate Effectively in Times of Uncertainty – The States of Guernsey; you can read it here: https://bit.ly/35jZHrq.

The States of Guernsey’s communications included frequent updates, simple advice, facts and figures, information on the rise of the global pandemic and clear guidance and instruction for the local community. They used a mix of visual assets, first class media relations, social media and website content. This type of clear communication is vital in this current situation and the team has reassured an anxious community with their non-biased, confident messaging.

At Black Vanilla we are passionate about clear communication, believing that it is fundamental to interaction, transaction, relationship-building and problem-solving. We are also experts in crisis communications, so we are always on the lookout for campaigns that we think show best practice.

We take our hats off to the States of Guernsey comms team, along with the leaders and their teams, and can’t wait to hear what they have to say at the event next month.

The ticket price for members is £5 and for non-members £15. This will include food and a welcome drink.
